Charminar :
The elegant structure of the Charminar in Hyderabad is a vivid example of Cazia style of architecture comprising of granite and lime-mortar. Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah built this Islamic architectural splendor in the year 1591. Charminar is the most famous landmark of the city and most tours to Hyderabad include the Charminar as an absolute essential. It is a must see if you are visiting Hyderabad. At each corner stands a tall minaret, which measures more than 55 meters long and also have a double balcony. The monument has the signature style of Islamic architecture.
Mecca Masjid :
This principal mosque stands 100 yards Southwest of the Charminar. The mosque is said to comprise bricks brought from Mecca built into the central arch and hence the name. The mosque is one of the largest in the country and can accommodate ten thousand people at one time.
Silparamam:
Shilparamam, a craft village, conceived in the year 1992, is situated just about few kilometres from Hyderabad. Sprawling over 65 acre of land in the Hitech city of india. Silparamam gives gives a scenic ambience of tradition and cultural heritage. For promotion and preservation of Indian arts and crafts and motivate the articians, the state Goverenment established this platform.
Golconda Fort :
This fort, originally built by the Kakatiyas, the
rulers of the neighboring state, was made with mud. Later, the Shahis converted
it into a marvelous piece of architecture using advanced acoustics wherein sound
signals could pass from the entrance of the fort to the top without the use of
any electric gadgets. There is a sound and light show in the evening which is
quiet popular.
Hussain Sagar :
Excavated in 1562 A.D. by Hussain Shah Wali during the time of Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah, the lake has a promenade that is a busy thoroughfare today. Boating and water sports are a regular feature in the Hussainsagar. One of the World’s tallest monolithic statues of the Buddha stands on the ‘Rock of Gibraltar’, in the middle of the lake. Tank Bund is a dam on the Hussain Sagar lake and is famous for
the 33 statues of statesmen and a huge monolithic statue of Buddha. It is surrounded by well maintained parks.
Salarjung Museum
Situated on the southern bank of the river Musi, the Salarjung Museum is the third largest museum in India housing the biggest one-man collections of antiques in the world. It is well known throughout India for its prized collections belonging to different civilizations dating back to the 1st century. Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan Salar Jung III (1889-1949), former Prime Minister of the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, spent a substantial amount of his income over thirty five years to make this priceless collection, his life's passion.
Lumbini Park :
A new amusement park near Hussain Sagar. This park has a
musical fountain show at 6.30pm and 8.00pm. The park is open from Tuesday to
Sunday 9.00am to 9.00pm.
Ocena Park :
Ocean park is located at Gandipet in 20 acres of
landscaped gardens. The park provides a number of amusement and water rides. The
park is also equipped with fast food restaurants offering a variety of
cuisine.

Gandipet
Gandipet is 20 kms from the city. This 29 sq. kms reservoir was formed by damming the water of the river Musi. Hyderabad receives some of its water supply from this lake. A popular picnic spot and weekend retreat with Guest house facilities.Whether it is summer or winter, the one place that is crowded with streaming visitors is Osman Sagar, popularly known as Gandipet.
Nehru Zeoological Park
It is spread over 1.2 sq. kms of landscaped gardens and houses about 3000 animals. Apart from the animals, a nocturnal zoo, the pre-historic dinosaur park, a natural history museum, parks, a mini-train and animal rides make the place ideal for a picnic. The nocturnal animals and the reptiles form a particularly interesting part of the whole.
Indira Park
Indira Park is situated in the Lower Tank bund of Hyderabad city. Indira Park is the newly built park of Hyderabad. Indira Park is spread over 76 acres of lush green area and it lies alongside the Hussain Sagar. Late Faqruddin Ahmed, the then President of India, laid the foundation stone for Indira Park in September 1975. It was opened for the public in the year 1978 with comprehensive scenery. |
